I went ahead and made quite a few changes and went with an idea of the giant horse butts belonging to magical unicorns- thus, I gave their bodie's a kind of "magical" glittery effect. It was inspired by a YT tutorial where someone where they used a voronoi noise texture to do an iridescent  effect I was looking for, but they did it in a way that showed speckles over the normal... this is the same idea, but I used a texture instead so that the specks are uniform across all faces. I kind of want to push this further with random glittery rainbow-y specs that show up every now and again anywhere...

Please take a look at the attachments- it's a more detailed render + added a few tweaks after I took this gif. I think it turned out nice! :3 And also the animation as a whole. This one is a single shot and I experimented with the noise modifier on the f-curve of the camera's rotation to get a "shaky cam" look. 

I also made a very, very simple camera rig that allows for easy focal length changing driven by a bone so getting those camera zooms are very easy.
