HELLO EVERYONE!!!

Last week working with Maya was... painful  ^_^"

You know when you're trying to make something that should work, but it just doesn't?
Even worse, there's no explanation for it not to work?
And even worse than that... You try to find some workarounds that also don't work (but should!)... Days keep passing, you can't find solutions (or explanations!) and you start losing your sanity... and then you can't sleep! It's impossible to explain properly how difficult it was to work with Maya during the previous week!

HOWEVER!
(And sorry for the little rant, It was a really miserable week!) XD

LET'S NOW FOCUS ON THE GOOD STUFF! ;)

I finally managed to make not only destruction physics to work properly, but particles as well! (Particles in 3D software are used to create things like smoke, liquids, dust, and even debris)

HERE'S AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT PARTICLES CAN DO:

It doesn't look perfect but that was my first successful attempt
(Seriously, I had so many technical issues with this too!) >:(

BTW: About 33% of my problems were RAM related, I just didn't have enough RAM memory on my computer to handle this stuff...
This is a problem that I've been having for months. I didn't want to spend money on new RAM unless it was absolutely necessary!

But because of this, I've kinda been trying to survive on limited resources for a while, (for way too long actually!) and I may have had too many software crashes because of this... ^_^"

But now with this huge detailed village I recently finished, a giantess, physics simulations, particles/smoke and all sort of effects, it just became impossible to work on this project on limited RAM...
so this weekend, I had no choice but to FINALLY buy new RAM sticks! XD

(And thank you so much for making another upgrade possible!!!)

So, after buying new RAM, I was finally able to finish and render this next update!

DESTRUCTION!

I'm quite excited to show you this one! =D
After trying way too many times, I finally finished this small test animation! Here's a work in progress of what it looks like!

This is a mix of physics simulations and manually key-framed objects (because again... for some reason I never had luck with these simulations, so i always have to manually fix all the object movements or do it myself!)

And here's a combination of destruction + particles + lighting and finished rendering!

I really hope you like it! =D

This is some sort of concept animation to showcase what my next big animation will look like! ;)  (There's wont be finger crush scenes, but there's definitely gonna be a lot of destruction!)

I only regret making my first Maya animation this complex...
I had to learn a lot of new stuff at once for a first animation, I definitely should have started with something much simpler! But I'm kind of an idiot ^^"
I wanted to prove that ditching Poser and learning Maya was worth the wait (by making an animation with tons of stuff that can't be done properly in Poser, but CAN be done with Maya... Like animating dozens of tiny people, creating destruction, smoke/particle effects and other complicated things!)
But what is done is done. Hopefully the extra time to make something this complex was worth it!
Once again, I'll publish new updates (as soon as I have something decent to show you!)

Thank you so much for your support! I'm doing my best to make these results look professional! :)   I'll have more updates soon!
(I think I finally learned EVERYTHING I needed to make my next big animation possible!)

On a sidenote, I also took some time to work on the princess comic, so expect to see new pages soon! ;) (Also quite destructive... She's done with that city!) =D

This is coming along quite nicely! Thank you for your hard work, it's definitely paying off!

this looks the be well worth the wait

Can't wait to see your first animation in Maya :D It looks like it's gonna be awesome!

Wow, that finger crush looks epic!! I'm really Opal's butt will be doing that in the full video XD Great progress btw... I can't even imagine all the work involved here. You're a legend!

Thank you! :) It would be hard to make Opal sit on a village =P (She's against violence after all!) But the thing is... She's also a bit clumsy, and she doesn't always look down when she walks around.... Which means, her lovely toes might end up crushing something.... ;)
