I thought I'd share this exchange from Twitter in case there's any confusion about building size or demand. In this case, the building is big enough as noted below. "Market perspective" is something to think about; instead of judging a show simply by the number, we need to look at how the number is relative to the average for the market. For this particular show/market, it's difficult because the last reported figure for the previous time here is 5K (4K paid) but after seeing pictures from it, that doesn't look right to me (looks a lot less than 5K in the building and much closer to 4K). I may end up sharing those pictures from the last time in this venue in comparison to tomorrow (when I get those).

This arena can fully fit 10k+ and routinely does. Last time they were here they hard cam side had only a handful of people but the rest of the lower bowl on the other side and end of arena was fairy full. The floor as usual was as well and some people were sitting in the upper bowl. (Watch the BTE episode for a true visual of how empty/full it really was.) With that said, this used to be a decent wrestling market but when WCW closed up, WWE made it exclusively just a house show stop to a bigger city. Fans were conditioned that nothing will ever meaningful will happen in Charleston and just don’t come out. Had this discussion the other day, that AEW nor WWE should neglect these towns and put on meaningful shows because then people will come out. With that said, AEW has been generous with Charleston they crowned the first tag team champs there and now we get Kenny’s arrival. I hope they continue to do well and come back it’s a great venue and WV/VA/OH fans are starved for great wrestling to come back there.

As noted in the post, the full setup for this configuration is 9,175 (and some of those may be limited view seats and that also includes the hard cam section which shouldn't be counted in full). I do agree about the pictures from below but it was more than a handful of people on the hard cam side (you can see one section is nearly full).

It feels like the 2019 show did about 3500-3700. No way was it 5k or anywhere close. It sounds weird but this is a new high for AEW in Charleston by several hundred.
