Great reaction. Not much for me to add, I think you're following things well. Just in case you missed it, they showed that Ed lost his arm when he transmuted Al's soul into the armor. Somehow, he traded his arm to accomplish that. Also, you mentioned how Isaac 'The Freezer' seemed to only control water, like a water-bender from ATLA. That was simply Isaac's specialty - transmuting water. The kind of alchemy is determined by the Transmutation Circle used. Given the proper circle pattern, any alchemist can transmute water in the same way as Isaac. Many alchemists will specialize in a particular kind of alchemy, and will carry or wear pre-drawn transmutation circles for convenient use. You can see them drawn on Major Armstrong's gauntlets in episode 1, and carved into Isaac's hand. Edward, on the other hand, doesn't need any transmutation circle. He only needs to place his hands together. Although, he still needs to know the alchemical theory for whatever he's doing, and thus could make a circle pattern if he wished. Near the end of the episode, Alphonse remarked that Edward does alchemy "just like teacher does," indicating at least one other person is capable of this as well. I like that you're making your own theories and that you're being hooked by the story. Glad you're enjoying it! Can't wait for your next one!
