In case you wanted to know the reason this was the last movie for Andrew was because it didn't receive well critically from at least the fans of the character. The issue people had was the plot having too much going on as far as having too many villains in the movie. I also think that people had issues with Jamie Foxx's appearance as Electro. They had a plan to do a sinister six as you saw at the end, but it didn't happened, so everything they had planned for Amazing Spider-Man was canceled. Also, I read somewhere that Andrew got fired because he didn't show up for something talking about the future for Spider-Man if I'm not mistaken. Around that time, Sony was hacked in 2014 when the movie came out, so in 2015 Sony sort of didn't have a choice but to do a deal with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man in the mcu, which was where Tom Holland came in.

My favourite Spider-Man movie with my favourite Peter Parker, Can’t wait to watch this later!

It’s really a shame he never got his third movie. Sony and Andrew were going through a lot of criticism at the time. Because this was the first time we saw a reboot for Spider-Man, so there was hate before he even started. And while that hate has shifted over the years with many now giving Andrew his flowers, the hate and criticism from the tobey fans in the beginning still lingers even tho much of it is unjustified. Which is way different than Tom hollands reaction which is part of the reason it was rebooted again. They didn’t want that connotation. This movie also pushed to have the avengers tower in the skyline but it never worked out. One thing I want to add that’s very interesting is that you guys mentioned how Harry’s story was kind of rushed, personally I think it worked, and is pretty similar to the PS4 game; however, you have to realize after the first movie it got so much unnecessary criticism for “the writing” which I don’t think was bad and compared to Tobeys movies isn’t as awakened sometimes haha and for “copying” scenes fro Tobeys movies and people complaining “we don’t want to see Ben’s death again” etc. So I’d imagine they just opted to realize okay, you know Harry’s Peters friend, no need to establish who he is because if they did they would probably get called out again. And then they fired Andrew cause he was sick for a press conference 💀😭 they did him so dirty and you can tell he loves the character. This movie is my favorite of all the movies is just stunning visually and I just feel like I’m in a video game the whole way through! I think it was just rebooted to close to Tobeys to be appreciated properly.

I think it’s insane how people will vouch for Tobeys 3rd movie and complain about to many villains in this one 😭. I kinda of see it I guess but the thing is it’s a little over critical because the stories are at least someway connected. Unlike the tobey one where they were pretty completely different stories. Plus the actual “goblin” in TASM2 was only present for a few minutes. If they did more with goblin, back then they would have been even more criticism from the fans because they would be non stop comparing them to William dafoe. Yet they can’t just omit goblin, especially for Gwen’s death.

Andrew is my fave Spidey and Peter Parker tbh! This TASM series is way more accurate to earlier versions of the Spider-Man comics. Gwen actually was Peter’s first love interests before MJ came into the picture. Also, Gwen and MJ actually were good friends in the comics too. Also, they wanted to slowly introduce MJ in TASM2 and the actress playing MJ was Shailene Woodley. They did shoot scenes of MJ and Peter as well, but it never made the cut to the movie. I think because it would have added too much to already overflowing plot and characters. They also have to consider how many fans were so invested in Peter and Gwen, so to have MJ coming in this movie and well knowing the impending death of Gwen. It would have been too soon to see Peter and MJ together..even if it’s a comforting/friend scene. To spidey comic book fans, Gwen’s death was well known and it was quite historical for the Marvel comics because a love interest of a superhero gets killed. The superhero couldn’t save his girl and that’s what is shocking, but also real. A superhero especially someone like Spidey cannot save everyone against evil villains. So when there were stills of Gwen with the teal jacket, legit comic book fans knew Gwen’s death will happen. It is still heartbreaking and shocking every time I watch this movie. Honestly, Andrew’s Peter has been through it and you understand why he wanted to step away from being Spider-Man. But yeah.. even though TASM series has gotten so much hate back then, I’m glad that ppl are retracting their comments and giving Andrew his flowers and recognition. Because you know what? Most of the things that was getting bashed/hated on was for the most part the writing and things out of Andrew’s control. The other thing was that ppl thought Andrew’s Peter was “too cool” compared to Tobey’s dorky portrayal. But again..legit spidey comic book readers would say Andrew is actually close to Comic book Peter Parker. Other than that, they said that Andrew is the best Spider-Man..and I have to agree..the way he moves, his body language, the way he talks to kids, the way he swings, his quick and witty responses to the villains while fighting, and just EVERYTHING was PERFECT. Sony really did him dirty tbh and really put him under the bus. The reason why Andrew couldn’t make it to the meeting was because he was sick. But yeah there was other stuff going on which again was out of his control. Which is such a shame..they built it up for a TASM3 then just scrapped all of it. Andrew really embodied Peter Parker/Spider-Man and you can tell how much he enjoyed it and how passionate/hard working he was for these 2 movies. I hope now that he’s getting more love, they’ll keep pushing for TASM3. There are so many petitions and rumors about it now. We deserve a TASM3
we deserve to see Andrew again!

Just wanted to correct you guys about the timeline of Norman Osborn/Richard Parker/Curt Connors. So, it was FIRST Norman and Richard who started doing the research and testing. But obviously with Norman’s condition/disease he had to be bed ridden despite all he did to stay alive. That’s why Curt Connors came on as Richard’s partner to help find a cure. In which, Connors also was very hopeful to find cure so he can regrow his arm too. So in some ways, both Connor and Osborn were looking for a cure and relying on Richard to find it. But we know the story, Norman Osborn was doing some shady business that Richard did not like and would not share his research because it would go to the wrong cause/dangerous people. Hence him trying to disappear with his research or at least the things he can control and take.

It's a shame Garfield never got his third movie, but at the same time, I understand it. Unlike Spiderman 3, TASM2 is indefensibly bad - the villain designs are awful across the board, the Harry v Peter/Spidey stuff is way too contrived, and Gwen's Death - a huge moment in the comics - doesn't feel impactful because you know it's been coming since she was introduced in the first movie. Until Spider-Gwen became a thing (for which I'm VERY grateful), she's always been relegated to just "girl who dies in Peter's arms". And the popularity of that didn't come until Spiderverse, WELL after this movie released. I liked Connors as a villain in the first movie, but, again, the design was bad and I just didn't find him as sympathetic as Dylan Baker's portrayal. If TASM3 does ever get made, and at this point I'm heavily betting against it, I hope they show Garfield's Spidey moving on from his grief. The time between this and No Way Home where he became bitter, and learning to move past it. You know. Like Spiderman 3 attempted.
