This is almost unanimously agreed as one of, if not the, best episode of Doctor Who. (At the very least, I've never talked to anyone who thought it wasn't). It's an invaluable examination of the Doctor's Grief. This is the first time we've seen him spend time, especially over an entire episode, grieving over a companion. The little "See, Clara..!" he does at the beginning, forgetting for a brief second that she's not there - it hurts, because it's such a human reaction. On top of everything, the mystery is superb - we're given all the clues one by one, and then we as the viewers put together that it's a time loop at the same time as the show reveals it's hand. And right as it does, we get an incredibly powerful clip show of the last 40 minutes, culminating in the Doctor's Escape and a powerful story about persistence. It's a powerful, emotional, and exceptionally written episode, and shows the strength in Doctor Who's writing. To answer what the disc WAS, it was his Confession Dial - the last Will and Testament of a time lord. It's given to their closest friend on the eve of their dying day, hence why Missy (The Master) had it. It was repurposed to kill him unless he confessed. Thankfully, by reloading himself from the teleporter's hard drive, he was able to loop through the dial enough times to eventually break free without confessing.

To keep you on track, there are TWO specials between Seasons 9 and 10 - "The Husbands of River Song" followed by "The Return of Dr. Mysterio".

Great reaction. You guys were on top of it the whole way through. I'm really interested to see what you think of the series finale next episode. Justin is correct - they have always used the bubble cities (at least since 10) to show that we're on Gallifrey. Why didn't he use a shovel? Because he never remembered or realized what was going on until he is in the room and the Veil is blocking his exit. "Always then. Always exactly then" is the quote he gives in the TARDIS. That's why he's so upset, but we don't realize it until afterwards. Repeated viewings are always sadder for that reason. If I were the Doctor, I would have whacked the wall with my shoe rather than my fist, but repeatedly hitting something with a shoe isn't as good for TV as punching it. Also, the wall didn't reset because it's outside the recycling system. It's the exterior wall.

Also, was I there at the beginning? No. I had watched a few of your movie reactions, but didn't realize you were doing Doctor Who reactions (and subscribed) for a little while after you started. But it has been awhile, and I've really enjoyed it. Thanks for sticking with it.

Nice reaction. Firstly with the cliffhanger is to think if it’s him or the character ME (Ashilder as don’t forget she calls herself ME). Also he didn’t use the sonic shades at begging as sonic doesn’t work on wood

I... like this episode. But I have never got so obsessed with it like some others. I watched it again with you guys this time try and see if I could get that love for it that others have. I don't know if I'm just misunderstanding something even having watched it multiple times... I'm not sure. :S Anyway, glad you guys enjoyed it and hands up as a viewer from the beginninng :D
