this episode just gets too sad

CelticRabbit

cant believe you guys cut the final tear , its so impactful

R. Lewis

Lol Jane trying so hard not to cry at the end, meanwhile JV just letting it all flow (and despite this being the tenth time watching this, I was bawling right along with him.) It's so amazing seeing you guys experience this for the first time. There really isn't any show, past or present, quite like TLA and LoK.

The reason she is getting beat in the Avatar state in my opinion is three fold. First: She thinks her dad is dead, so she is fueled by white hot rage. She is thinking revenge and death. It is scary to see the avatar obviously going for the "kill shot" over and over. That is not something we ever saw from Aang. It is unsettling in all the right awesome ways to see an avatar out of control and fueled by rage and pain. Second: Zaheer has a calmer mind. He has better mobility and is being extremely tactical. He has a very centered mind. Between letting go his earthly tether and having his lifelong training of air bending technique supercharged with actual air-bending power, he is truly able to anticipate and dodge her attacks and go for the effective offense maneuvers. Third: Most importantly, she has a fatal poison working its' way through her, weakening her. Like Zaheer said, she can't fight him AND the poison.

The last few minutes always get to me but the shot of Jinora with her tattoos and the last shot, with Korra frowning while a tear rolls down her cheek just kills me. I am SO pumped for you guys to watch the final season of the Avatar world!!!

Yeah as you guys said best Korra has just taken one savage beating after another since her series started. With Amon taking away her ability to bend, only for Aang to restore it when Korra was going to jump from the cliff and kill herself to continue the cycle, knowing the world needs a fully powered Avatar. Vaatu in Book 2 forever severing the connection to her past lives, so Korra could no longer turn to Aang, or ask any of them for help. To Zaheer poisoning Korra so they can attempt to murder her while she is conscious, and permanently end the Avatar cycle forever. Before upon that failing, trying to kill her in the same horrific way he did the Earth Queen. All of Korra's suffering and pain has come to her on account of being the Avatar and the world's protector that's a lot to shoulder as a burden too. Also during their fight Korra fell and landed feet first, and there was a slamming sound when she hit the ground so Korra is in a wheelchair both due to the weakened state the poisoning and attempts on her life has left her body and mental state in, but also because she cannot physically walk thanks to the injuries while fighting Zaheer. Korra has just been wrecked and on the verge of death quite a few times since she became the Avatar, so her being both physically and mentally wrecked at this point is very understandable and realistic. Also as you both mentioned in the video, mental health and PTSD aren't often discussed much, especially back then but here it is shown that they don't always win, and even if they do there is a cost involved.

Aang used to be the youngest person to ever become an airbending master, at the age of 12. That is, until this episode, when Jinora became a master, at only 11 years old
