Russel T Davies is one of the best writers, I love his work. Its said to see Mickey go but satisfying as you see his whole are play out from scared insecure guy to Brave, Fighter. In story writing its sad but important to end the story of a character when they reach there high point if there arch has been them getting to that point as it leaves the audience satisfied. The common issue with pore writing is that after the character reaches the high point they have no where else to go so you end up with a pointless and boring character. If you can keep your character growing and changing then the audience stays invested and the character stays relatable because in life this is how people are. A good way to finish a characters arch is by killing them off too so that was a possible option so be happy they didnt go that route cos it would have been so sad. So see mickey go and life his life for himself now and be able to look after his gran and stuff is very nice too see even tho we don't want to see him go at least we know he's happy, healthy and strong and will have a great life that we can imagine keeping his character living on in our imaginations. As for the doctor he's and roses relationship is abit complicated because of mickey. While Mickey is around he can't open himself up to committing souly to rose as she keep flip flopping too. like in season one with Adam and later Captain jack. So from the doctors perspective if i was him id also be abit unsure as to the relationship and if someone else came around like Madam De Pompedor shows direct interest its not that unexpected for the doctor to get caught up in that romance weather or not it would work out its much clearer then his relationship with rose. But thats there shared arch i suppose trying to work out what there actual relationship is with eachother. And its very compelling to watch because its messy and very true to how relationships can be in real life.

OMG I knew you'd be like this over Mickey's departure guys... you've always been such a big fan of his so I felt your pain and cried along with you. He really really went out on a high though - the best man he ever was! I absolutely loved the Mickey arc - think of where he came from S01E01 to S02E06... a transformation but it really did feel like a genuine character development throughout the two seasons. The rest of this season is pretty mixed in quality IMO - with 4 excellent episodes to come and 3 weaker ones, then seasons 3 and 4 are probably the two best seasons overall for me.
