you can see why last week, I was so excited for this episode! This is not a spoiler, but some background information about Blue Beetle. He's fairly obscure to those who aren't too familiar with DC Comics. There were three Blue Beetles. Dan Garret, Ted Kord, and Jaime Reyes. Dan is a pretty old hero, and an archaeologist who discovered the scarab. He passed the scarab to Ted Kord who never actually used the scarab, scared of its power. He's kinda like Batman, super smart, rich, no powers. And as you saw in this episode, Jaime stumbled upon the scarab during an explosion of Kord Industries.

Yeah ... the Reach are some nasty players. I guess Impulse didn't mention it because he didn't want want the whole suspicious 'mole' sort of thing to happen from last season.
