Don't want to spoil but just think, even if zuko's mom couldn't be with her husband because he's evil, she wouldn't leave Zuko with just his dad and sister unless there was a major reason she was forced to. So much more to the story than just wanting to leave her husband. Key phrase "everything I've done, I've done to protect you"

I think the mom killed the grandfather because he was going to take Zukos life as punishment because of what Ozi suggested about taking over even tho Iroh just lost his son. then she had to leave because she committed treason, that's why shes says everything shes done shes done to protect him. then Ozi took the throne and said that was his fathers last wishes. at least i have a feeling that's what happened but I'm not 100% sure; there's a movie about finding Zuko's mom but i haven't watched it.

Also, Azula wasn't tricking Zuko that time. Their father was really going to kill Zuko because the Fire Lord ordered it.

I don't think this is very spoilery since whatever happened can be pieces together if you watched it again very carefully. The comics only served to confirm it.

Even though Azula was born like that, she didn't have great parents to nurture her right. Her mum was weirded out by her and didn't understand her, while her dad is enabling her behavior. And I do understand why the Earth villagers reacted the way they did. After 100 years of war and being personally affected by it (especially Lee's family), it's no wonder they treated Zuko with hostility.
