Ok just to clear this up; Albert Blithe didn’t die in 1948 as the ending states. He actually survived and went on to fight in the Korean War getting all the way to rank of Master Sergeant and died in 1967. When they were adapting this series from Stephen Ambrose’s book they had incorrect records so they believed Blithe died in 1948.
