I suppose its just a matter of opinion lol i didnt mind them. AvP requiem was filmed kinda close to where i grew up so maybe im a bit biased lol

Armchair Wizard

I enjoy them, don't get me wrong, but like....they're not good films. They're B movies. Now I LIKE B movies, but the first two films in the Alien series are ACTUALLY good, in an unironic way, if that makes sense.

As a general rule for the channel I strongly beleive you should always choose director's cuts over theatrical releases when available. If a director decide that the commercial constrains of a studio cut impeaded enough over his creation to take the time and efforts to later on edit a new director's cut more inline with his intended original vision that is the version we should all watch when possible. In this specific case the 1990 Special Edition (aka Extended Director's Cut) is the version admittedly prefered by James Cameron himself over the theatrical release. That's the one we should all consider as 'canon'. "I actually prefer this version to the released version, because (...) I think it's a longer, more intense and more suspenseful version of the film. The conventional wisdom then was: don't make the film too long. But at 2 hours and 34 minutes, this is the ride that we intended you to take. So, enjoy it." - James Cameron - (video introduction to the "Alien Quadrilogy" box set) ie: in the special edition at the very begining of the movie Ripley is informed that her daughter died 2 years ago. This information put her future relation with Newt on a completely diferent more profound perspective. The scene is simply non existant in the theatrical release.
