Normally I have an issue when a movie is very different than the books, but Princess Diaries is an exception. Not only did I grow up watching this movie, but it also exists in the books. It came out while the books were still being written, so Mia complains about how much they changed about her life and what they left out

I love this movie, the books got me into reading when I was very young and even though the movies are so different they're still so well done!

This movie was literally my childhood. So many fun facts about it! 1. Princess Diaries is actually based on a book of the same name by Meg Cabot. There are some huge differences though, like Queen Clarisse is not nice at all and her and Mia don't have a good relationship. Mia's dad is also alive in the books but has cancer and Mia and Michael don't get together until much later. However, the second movie just erases the rest of the books and takes a whole different direction. As much as I love Chris Pine I'm still kinda pissed about that but the movie is still good. 2. The movie was co-produced by Whitney Houston. 3. Aside from the bleachers scene, the dinner scene when Mia accidentally sets the guy's arm on fire, the flames were supposed to go out when he put his arm in the ice bucket but they didn't. Anne Hathaway panicked and threw the glass of water on it which was not scripted. 4. During auditions, Anne Hathaway fell out of her chair, and was immediately given the part as clumsy Mia Thermopolis. She was literally born for this role. 5. The on-screen relationship between Queen Clarisse and Joseph was not scripted. They just had so much chemistry, especially during the dance rehearsal scene. 6. Kathleen Marshall, who played Charlotte, is director Garry Marshall's daughter IRL. Garry also has a cameo as a guest at the ball. 7. Hector Elizondo who plays Joe is in like every Garry Marshall film there is. Princess Diaries 1 &amp; 2, Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Georgia Rule Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve, Mother's Day. He always plays these side characters that end up being the best characters and Joe is no different. I could add so much more but this is already too much!

I’m SO ready for you guys to do the sequel! I normally don’t recommend bloopers, but the ones for both of these movies are especially hilarious! The scene where Clarisse and Mia were having tea in the courtyard, for example, kept getting interrupted by a plane flying overhead. So much so, that the director gave both Julie and Anne a “Best Acting While A Plane is Overhead” award.
