Like most of us I went into this movie blind, I saw the trailer but it pretty much just showed the scenes with Tess and Keith, they never showed the woman, it more looked like Keith was a monster or something. And I'm so glad I did because this was such a wild ride, you never knew where it was going and it's been a while since a film has done that. I love Tess, she's a great character, a lot of people give her a lot of crap about going back for AJ but I would have too if I were her. I couldn't just drive off knowing a person was down there and ultimately leaving them to die, I could never sleep at night knowing that and they did a good job with establishing that she's just a good person. The few times where she was "stupid" she had to for the movie to go forward but she was a smart character. I loved the misdirect with Keith, they did such a good job with making him look suspicious but didn't contradict his character in the end. He doesn't do anything wrong but with some very good editing, some weird looks and music helped keep him looking suspicious. Now I had no idea Justin Long was in this until I saw him on the screen and I love him so I was very excited, he's always great. He's one of those actors that can play such a scumbag but at the same time be so charming and weirdly likable, I know you guys saw him as just a jerk when measuring the hidden and rooms rightfully so but I couldn't stop laughing, it felt so real and it goes back to what Tess was saying about how girls have to be more careful then guys and how she would have never brought Keith in but he would have come right in, that's exactly what happens with AJ. And he felt so real, I could see a lot of people thinking they had to resort in doing what he does and trying to justify it any way he can. I was so shocked he actually did it though, especially after giving that very well acted speech, you thought he would become a hero but no. You think the barbarian is the lady but no she's absolutely, completely a victim, I truly felt bad for her, she doesn't know any better. Her reaction to seeing Tess bleeding is so sad, she is genuinely worried and wants to help her. The real barbarians are her father and AJ and you could see Tess didn't really want to shoot her, you see sympathy in her eyes but not only did she have to in order to get away but you could see it as a mercy killing, taking her out of her misery. I love the music as well, they used it very cleverly, it wasn't all the time and when they do play it it's very effective.
