For being a cool teacher, Mayu sure can feel a lot of emotions and express them to an extreme degree. She is just what Hatori needs because he can't express his emotions even when he should. Also they share memories of Kana. The good and the bad. She's the only non-Soma character besides Tohru that knows Hatori's pain. And she feels that pain too because she knows what he and Kana lost.
