Please react to the sequel as well

Thank you for reacting to this!! It's such a nostalgic movie that you can never get tired of. I remember when me and my high school band went to Disneyland and we were able to play that epic music when Simba climbed Pride Rock and assumed his place as king at the end of the movie. They even showed us how our version looked by incorporating it into the scene and having us watch it. It was such a cool experience! I hope you guys will get to watch The Lion King 1 1/2 at some point. It's basically Lion King but in Timon and Pumbaa's perspective. I would love for you guys to see it!

I saw this when in released in theaters in '94. I was only 5, but it impacted me a lot and is definitely one of the first that truly made me fall in love with movies, and more specifically, animated movies. Currently watching the full length along with your reaction; I haven't rewatched it in a few years and man, that opening scene evoked a lot of emotions! Also, Scar is amazing, and as an adult "Be Prepared" is one of my favorite songs/musical numbers out of the movie. I also want to see the Broadway version...I've heard amazing things! Thanks for this, you two. It made my heart extremely happy! I love seeing you two genuinely enjoying this.

The broadway version is phenomenal!! If you ever get the chance to see it, definitely go for it! Hearing the music live and seeing how they bring the animals to life on stage is just incredible

Also, we have Rowan Atkinson as Zazu... in order words; frikkin Mr Bean. xD The team that worked on this movie took a trip to Serengeti, where they got most of the inspiration for the art and the backgrounds. The patterns in the background of 'Can't wait to be king' are inspired by African fabrics. Another thing they picked up from the people there were the phrases "Hakuna Matata" and "Asantisana..." To make the wildebeest scene, they made a 3d-wildebeest model, gave it cel-shading to match the 2d characters, and then made a herd run across a 3d landscape. To avoid the models running through/overlapping, they created a simple AI program where each model repelled each other. Really groundbreaking stuff for 92-94, when they worked on this. :)

yeah I'll be honest, Disney animated sequels are normally infamously awful, but The Lion King II is actually really great

The BEST Disney animated movie! And it introduced Hans Zimmer to the world for which we will be forever grateful 🙌

I hope you guys do the sequel for this one! While sequels are usually more moss than hit, TLK2 and Bambi 2 both are surprisingly solid sequels. I feel like TLK2 really solidified as my favorite because even at that young age I was a major theater nerd. And when you take animals (lions, in this case) and Shakespeare (Hamlet for this one and Romeo and Juliet for the sequel) you’re going to appeal to a lot of people.

This is my favorite Disney movie, hands down. I saw it in the theater, I was in high school. It really affected me, and I still love it probably after 100 watches! The music is incredible, I used to listen to the soundtrack on repeat. They even did a spin off music album, called Rhythm of the Pride Lands, that takes the music of the movie and goes even further with it. Oh, and the Broadway version is absolutely incredible, definitely the best live show I've ever been to.

I still remember watching this for the first time at the theater and seeing that sunrise and music immediately pop out was awesome! And when Scar's paw came down on that little mouse everyone jumped, it was huge! If you ever find it re-released near you check it out, it's breathtaking on the big screen! They really capture the beauty of Africa and you can tell they really studied the animals and wanted them to move just right but also gave them so much emotion on their faces. I can't say it's my favorite Disney film but it's so good! The songs and especially the music is so good and powerful, Be Prepared is my favorite song! Probably my favorite villain song as well. And a fun fact while recording the song Jeremy Irons actually threw out his voice when he sang the line "you won't get a sniff without me!" and couldn't finish the song so Jim Cummings took over and if you don't know who Jim Cummings is he's an amazing voice actor and impressionist, so the first half the song is Irons and the second half is Cummings and you can't even tell the difference! Jim also provided the voice for Ed. He also provided the singing voice for Rasputin in Anastasia, that was never Christopher Llyod singing! So yeah he's awesome! The only thing that stops me from naming Scar my favorite villain is the second half, he kind of just turns into a diva and he comes across whiney. I wish he had stayed the way he was in the first half, I find a character like Sher Khan better in terms of attitude and confidence but that's just me. Oh and don't bother with the "live action" version, it's just practically a shot for shot version but not done nearly as well! You can't even call it a live action because nothing is, it's all done on computers. In my opinion it's just bad and characters since they are trying to make them look as real as possible don't show any emotion and they are just lifeless. They never should have tried to even tempted it! The sequel is better then that, it's probably my favorite straight to dvd sequel.

If you like the voice of Timon (Nathan Lane) I'd suggest watching bird cage it has robin Williams in it and it's a fantastic movie.
