Love this movie! Good reaction!

Nick, you provided a good analysis there. Strong themes of community vs alienation & apathy. And what you believe -- fear vs your strength. It's stronger in the book than in this movie - the idea that their belief is what can kill Pennywise, but you see it in this movie. Ben gives Beverly the fairy tale kiss, that childish belief that he could wake a princess up from a slumber.

I love the dimmed lights for the spooky movie night. ;-)

If you want more of IT, this was also turned into a series back in the day. It is interesting to see it remade. I like that they kept a lot of the themes that were more open back then, such as the intensity of the bullying, and maybe more bluntness than you see today.

I have a crippling phobia of clowns (yeah, even the kid friendly circus type) so this is the one set of horror movies that actually freaks me out. Generally I just chuckle at the jump scares and the general absurdity that is horror movies. So as much as I fear the main subject of It, watching it with Nick was really fun. I look forward to seeing part two! I saw this and the second one at a drive in theater and it made it so much easier to get through. It's definitely a whole different experience watching it this way. Have y'all seen the original It movie?

I know it's not that feasible to do it that often considering everyone has their own life and their own schedules, but I really like the reactions where the three of you are together. I feel like we get more in depth discussions with three than with just one or two.

While I think that this was a good movie, I much prefer the 90's version. Sure the SFX are dated, but the acting and the dialogue were better and the story was fleshed out better. Sophia Lillis' acting is the only noteworthy acting in this version. Also I think they relied too much on SFX in this version. And Tim Curry killed it as Pennywise in the original version!

Unfortunately I can't watch this one with Nick. I saw it 2 years ago and still get nightmares about Pennywise.. looking forward for the Disney reactions tho!

I look forward to your review of the book. I really would love your take on the 1990s miniseries, too, comparing to the book and the newer version. It would be fun if all 3 of you could watch the 1990s miniseries since none of you have probably seen it. It's not as good of a production compared to the more recent movies, but in some ways a better adaptation of the book, and would be fun to discuss the differences in the book, a TV series, and more current movies :).

Hi Nick fantastic reaction I really enjoyed it and I think that Stephen King not just with it but many of his works deal with the cycle of abuse look at Henry Bowers he is a awful bully as is his father look at Jack Torrance in the shinning his father was a alcoholic that physically hurt his child as was his father this does seem to be a theme to me in a lot of his work I could go on but I wont bore you all just thought I would point it out. Thankyou again for your fantastic reaction cant wait for chapter 2.

Hey Nick, if you ever get Stephen Kings The Dark Tower series, I'd absolutely love to read those along with you and have you do some book reviews like James and Ninetails are doing with HP. They are an epic series that incorporates characters and plot points from most of his other works. Just please don't watch the movie. The movie was a sacrilege to the books. To the point where they can't be compared at all.
