Nick and I had never seen this movie and it is such a masterpiece. I truly have a newfound respect for Steven Spielberg. Enjoy!

Band of Brothers and The Pacific are both Spielberg/Hanks productions and I think you would really enjoy them. Both are high level HBO limited series. Additionally, you would gain A LOT more subscribers if you reacted to them, guaranteed!

Truly a powerful and moving piece of film making . I would highly reccomend you watch Spielberg's film Schindler's List . It's just as impactful and emotionally stirring as this .

Forget the set design. Operation Overlord involved 1,000 bombers, 1,200 aircraft dropping 156,000 paratroopers (Private Ryan was one of them), 132,000 men invaded 5 beaches that day; Omaha Beach is what you’re seeing here. 7,000 ships carrying men and materiel to one of the hugest amphibious invasions in history.

I once took my Grandmother who lived through the occupation as a teenage girl to a Dutch theater production called the soldier of orange. The production actually plays in a former airbase hanger and depicts the events of WW2 out of the vantage point of students during the occupation. She was 90 at the time we went to go see this play. When we arrived at the entrance she got an escort by 2 military veterans that walked her to her seat she loved every minute of it. That following year this movie came out. She actually wanted go see it , of course we talked her out of it because of the graphic images. But we opted instead as grandkids to go see it. It’s as of today the most intense Experience I’ve ever had in a movie theater. But I’m thankful that those men are still remembered by young and old after all these years.

The opening first person shots and sound design of going up and down in the water was so realistic that veterans left theaters it was so realistic to the real thing

If you guys would want to watch more war movies I would recommend the movie 1917

The Sticky Bombs where used but rarely, Soviets for example trained dogs and planted bombs on them to suicide on German Tanks, you really should watch Stalingrad and Pianist.

Since you have now seen Saving Private Ryan you guys really have to watch The Pacific & Band Of Brothers. Both series are just phenomenal tv & filmmaking at its best. Again fantastic casts on both. With Hanks & Spielberg executive producing. Definitely worth a watch.
