My favourite part of this film is that a few (not all) of the Hydra weapon designs were variations of experimental late-war German designs that mostly existed on paper. Brings the history nerd out in me.

Brilliant! I do feel like (for me ) this was the film that got a lot of people invested because it began the plot point of Hydra - I also feel like from this point onwards the films have a different feel to them since it feels like a transition from Marvel movies to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as this is the penultimate film to the completion of phase one.
