All of Mockingjay part 1 & 2 is spent showing the actual growing divide between Katniss and Gale. His world view and outlook on War is completely opposite from Katniss. Their morals are not the same. Her morals always line up with Peeta. Going all the way back to the first book/movie just after the reaping. Gale told Katniss “you know how to hunt” and Katniss replied. “Animals” then Gale says “there’s no difference”

Also the love triangle works so well in this series because at no point was the love triangle itself used to further the plot. The story didn’t depend on the triangle like say twilight does. It is kept a subtle nuanced subplot and it stays in its lane consistently.

In actuality how many innocent people did Gale kill. Including Prim. Maybe he didn’t know it would used against Prim but he knew it would be used. Not excusing Peeta but he did not choose to be there. That was all Coin. I would argue that mans death is Coins responsibility more than Peeta.

When Katniss agreed to Coins plan for a Hunger Games with Capitol children she was trying to gain Coins trust so she could get close enough to take her out. Haymitch agreed with her only because he was pretty sure she had some type of plan. She makes sure she will get to kill Snow before she agrees then tips her hat to the audience when she says “for Prim” at Coin.

Yeah. People hate on Gale but I actually think he’s a fascinating character and honestly very understandable

Yeah, but by that logic, can’t you tie a bunch of deaths to Katniss. The ship she shoots down in part one is the reason the hospital blows up. I think it’s super gray and it’s meant to be

Yeah of course. I would never argue that gale was the nicer of the two, but he is also a prbly better commander. Which is why I think Gale and Peetas end is fitting for both of them. Peeta is more sensitive and caring and one of the only few people who truly understands Katniss. Gale is more callus and is looking for strategic results.

I think Gale was the person she probably would have ended up with if her life or the world they live in didn’t change. But as the book explains perfectly at the end of Mockingjay, after all she’s been through the person she can’t survive without is Peeta. They live for each other. Gale & Katniss are so similar. They have the same fire & fight in themselves. She doesn’t need someone to fuel her anymore. She needs someone peaceful & calm. Who proves to her life can get better no matter how bad it can be. Peeta is just her person. It’s why she’s never been able to let him go. They have a bond no one else could understand.

As for the Gale/Peeta of it all. Post traumatic Peeta did kill someone but I don’t think it was intentional. He was confused, snapped and thought he was under attack. Coin unleashed him long before he was ready or well. But he still did it. As for Gale he was a major part of that trap plan. He was instrumental in creating it and wanting to use it so yes he does play a part in the death of Prim and the other capitol people. Both men & Katniss herself have made terrible mistakes and have to live with the consequences. I think that is the point of The Hunger Games. War changes you. And it can cost greatly.

Yeah. Ur completely right. I said it in the video but I think what made peeta and Katniss so close was they had been through TOGETHER. It bonded them
