If I remember correctly, the story of the exorcist was based off old church diaries or something. And there were quite a few 'accidents' that happened around the filming of the movie. I think the guy that got thrown out of the window in the movie died from the flu before they finished filming or something. Sorry, it's been awhile since I've seen the film and I'm a little rusty on the deets. Lol. I remember the director saying once that he used the sound of bees in the soundtrack to trigger a fight or flight response to make the viewer more uncomfortable. Anyway, if you wanna do another movie like this one, may I suggest Rosemary's Baby? Or The Shining? Or Alien?

I just like that James seems genuinely creeped out when things get tense . Between the era of this movie. And early 2000. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of great horror movies. I’m excited that there are actual good horror movies being made again fresh ideas and good directors that take it seriously.

Alien is a classic that is a must see. The sequel is the best instalment in the franchise though. If you do end up watching Alien and then Aliens, I'd recommend watching the special edition of the Aliens. It's the Directors preferred version, and is the Canon entry.
