Sprint Flight 9 Raw Footage (Patreon)
Content
Hey Patrons! Here's all that lovely raw footage from Sprint's most recent flight!
I didn't do a data review for this one - we actually lost data recording after T+7.5 seconds into flight. Caught a pretty obscure bug that triggered the loss of data, but that's fixed now. Looks like we ended up hitting an apogee of about 266m, even though reported altitude is 250m - the onboard filtering needed a bit of work.
We're nearing the end of the Sprint program, and thank goodness! Landing rockets, air-launched fin rockets, catching an Electron, etc are all very enticing at this point. We have just one more flight to complete, which is the 1km flight attempt.
Between you and me, I'm targeting a launch on next Monday evening. It'll be a big leap for Sprint, and I'm truly not sure it'll make it, so say your goodbyes now! Regardless of the outcome, flight 10 will mark the end of the Sprint program. Even if it flails out of control, we're going to call it there because of the rough shape the airframe is in. Maybe we can revive it later on a Sprint V2 :)
The event will be publicly live streamed, not just for Patrons. That will definitely not be the new norm, I intend to continue Patron-only livestreams for most launches, but doing a public one for big events seems alright. I'll have a link for that posted soon, so keep an eye out for that!
Anyway, thanks as always for the support, and let's give Sprint one final push to 1km soon!
Joe
