Bit of a curio here: the actress that plays the senator in this movie was the head of the acting department at my school. Terrifying narcissist. She'd sing tragic opera movements while doing very basic manual labor, inviting the other staff to do it for her while she blossomed or whatever. She's the closest thing to IRL Hannibal in the movie.

Those are bumper jacks. Those and most cars had slots in the bumpers for them up until the mid 70’s. Extremely dangerous. Lots were people hurt really bad and even killed using them because they weren’t very stable. Lol my old 1976 Chrysler Cordoba came from the factory with one. Thinking about it these days? Yes there is a problem with placing the shovel against the door. She wedged it beneath the door knob as to stop the door from opening. Had she of just placed it against the door would have been more believable to act as a sort of alert when dealing with multiple access points. Could have been a smart move but shovel placement made it illogical.
