After a lot of of thinking, I've made up my mind and I've decided to pause my Patreon for the necessary time needed.

For the past 7 years, I've worked every day, and single handed created a lot of comics. I'm proud of my creation and it has been a great experience because of your loving support. I'm grateful for that, sincerely. However, the time has finally caught up to me, and the negative impact of this relentless work has been more and more weary in my life.

Until now, you must’ve noticed that I post less and less often these days. There are many reasons, like the deterioration of my mental health after my social media backlashes and the deterioration of my physical health. But I don't wanna make excuses, I failed to achieve the work-life balance, and my life is very unbalanced right now.

Another major reason of my reduced productivity is from inside. These days, there's an increasing emptiness in my heart, and it has nothing to do with my personal life. It's the lack of knowledge from a creator's point of view. I feel that I desperately need to enrich my knowledge base for creating better art. To put it into understandable words: I need time.

For example, in order to create the comics of "The perfumed garden" (which is a big new project for me), I'm trying to learn a lot of new skills and get to learn more about the middle eastern culture. I re-read all the tales from "Arabian nights" and I'm learning Arabic, etc.

But all this effort takes time, and I'm contantly worried about my income (cause if I stop Patreon, I have no income), so I'm always under a lot of pressure to work work work until the day I realise that I'm becoming more and more short sighted.  I feel more and more that I'm working to get paid, and it's not exactly great. I wanna create good stuff for you, a good story and good art, a comic book that worth your time and money. I don't wanna create cheap jerk off material even though that's what the market wants me to do.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, please allow me to be capricious for some time. So I can reconnect with the muse inside of me in order to offer better work to you in the future. I promise this is not gonna be a vacation for me, I'll use this time wisely to prepare for my eventual return.

Another big question you might be wondering is what'll happen to your subscription after I put my Patreon on Pause. Well, rest assured. You'll NOT be charged at all during this time. No matter if you paid for the monthly subscription or the annual subscription, all charge will be paused. (The paid annual subscription will be extended with the same amount of time) In other words, you don't have to pay anything during this time and your subscription will remain.

Again, forgive me for this abrupt decision. I know I'm not gonna be posting for a long time and I'll feel guilty if I still accept your money during this absence. That's why I made this decision (to pause my Patreon and stop getting paid), and I hope it's the right decision for the future.

Of course my heart is full of fear. I don't even wanna imagine how many patrons I'll lose during this time. But from the bottom of my heart, I wish you'll still be here when I come back. Only this way, I can be certain that I'm not just some "trendy" creator, and my fans stay because they like what I create.

And you can be sure that I'll be back with better art this time.

Thanks a lot for your understanding, and hope to see you soon.

PS. Though I won't update any of my comics during this absence, I'll still check my Patreon from time to time. So if you guys have any question concerning the subscription or whatever, just leave it in the comments and I'll try to answer it.

You will not lose me as a Patron or follower / fan. I totally understand your need for time, for without Art there is no Life and without life there is no Art. Take however amount of time you need to do whatever it is you must figure out, so take care and I appreciate the heads up ... good luck!

You do what you need to do to get rest and find your inspiration again. I can wait till you get back on your feet and into your art again. I’ll miss not seeing your content for awhile. I’ll keep holding on. 😉

Take good care of yourself and see you again when you're ready.

I’ve been thinking about your announcement. Like many of your followers I am shocked that you didn’t take any time off, and therefore understand and am supportive of your decision. Best wishes for your recuperation and I/we look forward to your return when you have decided upon amending your life/work balance. Thank you for your beautiful work Philip 💖😘
