From Chris: Transfer  is garbage. Almost certainly a telecine job hanging around since the  DVD era. Macroblocking, messy grain, massive ringing, and super soft.  It's a Sony property, so it must be one of their efforts from the 2000s.

Passable pro beach volleyball sports movie starring C. Thomas  Howell and a fresh-faced Courtney Thorne-Smith before she was on Melrose  Place. Light comedy, a little romance and a cheesy sports arc which is  ridiculous but feels right at home in the 1980s.

Anyone  who followed volleyball in the 1980s will recognize the pro players in  the film - famous names in the sport like Sinjin Smith and Steve  Timmons. The volleyball action is shot very weirdly, I guess to cover up  C. Thomas Howell's limitations playing against actual pros.
