From Chris: One of the first truly decent film transfers I've seen from VCI in awhile.

This is the controversial 1970 pseudo-scientific documentary that for a brief moment in the 70s became a cult hit and nearly 40 years later would inspire History Channel's notorious Ancient Aliens tv show. Introduces the Ancient Astronaut theory - primitive ancient cultures were visited by aliens which helped push civilization forward. Was a big influence on the X-Files.

Fascinating and well-made, if deceptive, relying on a lot of aerial camera footage of ancient wonders like the Pyramids, even if virtually everything presented in the documentary has been debunked by now or deeply exaggerated. The narration is great, made in the manner of educational documentaries that had their heyday in the 60s.

This is actually a double-feature, the rather poor 1976 sequel is also included which recycles some of the same footage and shoddily executed.
