From Chris: A much tighter edit could have made this a really sweet, funny movie. Love Cameron Crowe as a director but he never knows what he wants this movie to be - funny romcom or wistful melancholy about a father passing away.

Still enjoyable on some level but would have been better with more Kirsten Dunst and less small-town ensemble surrounding  Orlando Bloom's character. Definitely non-formulaic as the script doesn't play by normal Hollywood rules.

Crowe must have called in some favors. He gets big-time cameos from Jessica Biel and Alec Baldwin, among others.
