Haven’t watched the reaction yet but, this first arc of season 2 takes place 12 years before the events of season 1, when Gojo and Geto were still students

Yeah the first part of season 2 is called the hidden inventory arc. It is the 1st one in terms of the timeline when gojo and geto were highschoolers at jujutsu highschool. Basically gojo's back story

Yeah think of this first part of season 2 as one big flashback. It gives some backstory for characters before getting into the meat and potatoes of the season.

The current jujutsu Kaisen year in season 1 with the main cast is 2018. The movie took place a year before in 2017 and this arc/flashback of Geto and Gojo took place in 2006 when they were 2nd year students at jujutsu tech(16-17 yo kids).

And just a refresher the other male main character with Itadoro yuji in season 1, the dude who can summon all of those animals, his name is Megumi FUSHIGURO.

A timeline of the series: - Season 1 begins with Yuji Itadori in June of 2018 and ends in September of 2018 - The movie JJK 0 begins with Yuta Okkotsu in November of 2016 and ends in December of 2017 - Episodes 1-5 of season 2 shows when Gojo and Geto were in high school in 2006 - Episode 6 of season 2 picks up where season 1 ended starting in October of 2018

Timeline (what u watched so far including movie): S1: Modern day, Gojo is an adult in his 30s (long parted in his relationship with Geto by this point). Gojo is teacher to 1st yr teen students: Yuji, Megumi, Nobara and 2nd yrs: Panda, Togei, Maki. JJK0 Movie: Modern day still (~a year before S1 timeline; Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara haven't joined as 1st yrs yet). Panda, Togei, and Maki are in their 1st yrs at JJK High. Yuta joins the party and fights Geto. End of movie suggests Yuta went to Africa afterwards (which is why he doesnt appear in S1 and havent met 1st yrs students Yuji and team yet). S2: Ep 1-5 titled 'Inventory Arc' goes back in time when Gojo/Geto are teen students at JJK High in their 2nd year. This explores their relationship before separating. Second part of S2 called 'Shibuya Incident Arc' whips us forward into modern day/current times with Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara, picking up where S1 left off. Hope that helps!

Hey Tony, if you don’t mind, I recommend you to watch the visuals of the opening for this arc. The opening isn’t spoilery at all imo and is good at establishing the vibe of the story arc and gives it some extra welcomed context. Not to mention it is also just beautifully done.

Megumi is 15-16 in season 1 which takes place in 2018, and as this new arc takes pace in 2006 he would be about 3-5 years old so he wouldn’t be looking like an adult like the dude in the end haha.

I also recommend the ending visuals too, also not spoilery just nice and atmospheric. No need to do it on camera, maybe after you do the song analysis in your own time. The production went really hard on this season, you’ll really come to understand that in later episodes.

Here’s the order chronologically, Part 1 of season 2, then Jujutsu kaisen 0 (movie), then Jujutsu kaisen season 1, then Second part of season 2. For the first part of season 2 is basicly when gojo is a student.

So basically if you were to view JJK based on the in-story events in chronological order, it would be as follows. Season 2 Episodes 1-5 JJK 0 Movie Season 1 ALL Episodes Season 2 Episodes 6 - onwards S2(1-5) happens before JJK 0. JJK 0 happens before S1. S1 happens before S2(6). S2(6) picks up where S1 left off. I'm sure you've noticed the drastic changes in both animation and soundtrack quality so far. This is because the animation director changed, along with a lot of the animator staff. Also for season 1, the soundtrack was done by a variety of different composers while season 2 is done by one sole composer for the most part. I REALLY think the quality overall very much changed for the better, which is a big deal with how good season 1 already was.

Yes and the reference was about a digimon who evolved to a higher level, but it was accidentally an evil version of that level and he differentiated between the evil version of that level and the good one, saying that we should avoid the evil version and should aim for the good one.

One thing that’s interesting about this is the difference in ideals. Present time Gojo wants to protect Non-Sorcerers but this version doesn’t give af Present time Geto hates Non-Sorcerers but this version wants to protect them. We get to see how that change happened.

It's really confusing at first, but I guarantee that the story explains itself as it goes, no need to rely on the comment section this time. When I finished watching the prologue arc I even remembered stuff mentioned in season 1 that I had forgotten.

The reference Gojo makes about Tengen is a digimon reference, still surprised they were allowed to use those names in a different anime (lol) but the gist is that digimon are able to evolve up and down in strength, they are also prone to corrupt digivolutions (virus types) Skullgreymon is just a corrupt possibility that koromon can turn into, but the implication is to keep reversing the evolution and stopping them from ever getting to that point

The whole time I was watching this arc I kept thinking "Ok, so what happened to get Gojo and Geto from where they are in episode one, to where they are in the future that we see in JJK Zero movie?" and I really like how that is developed in a way that to me makes so much sense. Usually people are set in a mindset so it's definitely jarring to see them so different here at first.

I disagree, you also need to watch Digimon after the movie. Otherwise you wouldnt get what Satoru is talking about when he mentioned MetalGreymon. The explanation of Fushiguro suddenly being an adult at the end of this episode gets explained there. That's why he's young again in Season 1.

'Hidden inventory' is the name of the free jazz track and 'Our mission' is the name of the other track, they're the first two tracks on the OST. I think there'll be a few tracks this season that'll catch your ear so feel free to pause rewind as much as you need in case you miss anything, JJK can be pretty complicated and it's totally valid to take your time with it imo. Would love to see your reaction to the ED too, the visuals are gorgeous!

I absolutely am the same when it comes to watching anime. I’m constantly rewinding since I get distracted by the music playing. It’s very difficult to absorb everything at once and enjoy it….at least for me.
