Man this episode hurt even more for people that had been watching the opening every episode because they tricked us hard. The opening has scenes in it of Junpei showing him wearing the Jujutsu Kaisen school uniform and doing school stuff with the other members of the class, so people who were watching the anime but hadnt read the manga were all like "oh, can't wait to see how he saves this character so he can come to the school". And then this.

The scenes of Junpei happens in Yuji's dream, and Yuji wakes up from his dream at the end of the Opening, which means that he's back in reality where Junpei is dead
