The first season of Hibike Euphonium has 13 episodes + 1 OVA, Crunchyroll shows it as if it were another episode, although it is still part of the anime's history. And by the way, good reaction!

The work that went into that performance had to be insane for the animation studio, not only to get it right, but to make it look as good as it does. I'm sure some studios wouldn't hesitate to just have still images through it for the convenience. KyoAni was 100% the best choice for this work.

Glad you liked it! The ending was an instrumental (if that's the right term) rendition of the normal opening song. There's a recording on youtube if you're interested? Also, there was a little scene at the end that was nice, it was a "photo" of the band after the competition: https://imgur.com/a/pb70Qlg

I kind of binged your reactions to this show in the past days and I'm glad to be caught up now! This anime is very dear to me and I feel like can relate to a lot of aspects in it, even though I never played music. Anyway, hearing all of your commentaries as someone who actually knows the stuff was really interesting! The next episode is an OVA yeah, and you might be surprised about which question you asked in this ep they are going to answer in that one lol.

Yeah, it's a thing in most anime (and well animation in general). But KyoAni (the studio making this show) is like the best of the best when it comes to good realistic animation and cinematography etc so it's not weird for you to be impressed.

Yes, ithe cinematics in this anime is gorgeous, they try to mimic physhical cameras as much as they can and it only gets better at season 2, when they allocated even more resources to animation and cinematics.

Im telling you man Kyoto animation studio definitely one the best animation studio in the world. They very rarely do action stuff so they dont get much hype but they're definitely at least top 3 studio out there. Its unfortunate that the arson attack happened to their hq and killed a lot of their staff members but I hope with Season 3 coming out soon, they'll get their hype back.

The episode 14 you see next on Crunchyroll is a Special episode. Unaired episode bundled with the seventh Blu-ray volume. Think of it more like supplementary material and a side-story to the main story.

uuuuuh I saw your video reacting to the opening to this anime on my youtube homepage and I had to immediately sub to your patreon to watch your reactions because you give really nice insights, and this anime is also one of my top3 favorites of all time. It's currently 6am and I finally finished all your reactions in one sitting, and man this was great, loved your stories here and there about band life. Having grown up in the more classical side of music (Europe, and France at that), hearing all those anectodes about band and also your educational views was really interesting. Also, about that timpani grip bit, I am not certain but I think both America, Asia and Europe have different ways of griping timpani mallets. The example you brought up on cam is a different way from what I was taught, we do actually play timpani with the second grip you showed with hands at the very hand of the mallet. I think Asia, and Japan, teach that method more than they teach the example you provided, although both are taught. It's akin to how America teaches Steven's grip for marimba but Europe mainly teaches Burton's grip (which I think is also called traditional grip) in classical context.
