Alright this episode was much more realistic with some actual teaching involved!

Jet Man

Knowing that this is the teacher's first year of teaching certainly changes how I think about the character now. I bet you're curious as to what his preferred instrument is as well. (I don't know myself, first time watching this series.)

Hey Tony how did you get so good at differentiating the different sections in the band, every time I try to listen to bands they mesh for me, is it experience or is there a trick to it? Love the reaction and insight cant wait for the next one.

Lots of experience as a musician inside of these type of settings. When you teach you have to constantly adapt sections in rehearsal so your ear has to be very active. I'll be making some videos that help suggest how to actively listen soon.

This anime makes me feel very nostalgic. I was a member of the japanese soccer club when I was in high school, so I have seen the brass band practicing on the field just like in this episode. I remember seeing them running just like the athletic team, and it made me recognize that physical fitness is important to play a musical instrument, and at the same time I wanted to cheer them on.

I literally pledged to your patreon because you're reacting to this series. Despite having to quit being a musician because my IT studies begun when I was only 16yo, I love this series. Hibike! Euphonium (Translated as Sound! Euphonium because "Hibike" is a japanese onomatopoeia for making a sound) aired in a time I was going deep in depression on my IT career, my job being 2 hours far away from my home, when I just dropped college because I couldn't do a full time job and 5th year of college at the same time. I caught to it when it had 6 epis aired already, and five of those I watched on the bus back home, one per day, on the bus back to home. It helped me take away all my work stress before I got home, so I could actually enjoy my little free time until I had to sleep. After catching up, I would watch every new episode two or three times in the release week at the bus back home. Kyoto Animation (KyoAni) became my favourite studio, Kumiko's voice actor became my favourite (to the point I unconsciously liked all her characters before even realizing it was her voice), etc etc. I would catch every tiny detail on the animation (I will point out them on future episodes). In a way, I feel like this anime is part of my life, and maybe it's because the characters are in the same age bracket I was when I had to drop music studies to IT studies. This was also the first anime that would made me emotional on every episode (be it feeling angry at characters, crying, etc). I'm glad I found you, a full fletched musician, watching and appreciating the show. It's a good excuse for me to rewatch it while hearing your own insights and even your personal journey.

BTW I found your channel thanks to Oshi no Ko and decided to check the patreon out of curiosity. Glad I did.

TL;DR Yes, I work on IT, I'm just "temporarily retired" I'm currently on leave because of my depression treatment. To be more specific, it's labeled as "disability retirement" because I'm on it for years now. But yeah, I studies Information Technology since 16yo, almost graduated on it, landed a pretty good job on it, and eventually, the "pretty good job" actually became a very stressful job that dragged me on my current situation. For better or worse, retirement by disability is not considered permanent in my country, so when I get mentally stable, it'll be a matter of rehabilitation until I can work again.
