This is the most important Anime episode (any episodic production tbh) that I have ever seen.  Sorry for the long side tangents in this reaction but man...what a great episode.

I appreciate the fact they are going into this level of detail about how cruel the internet is.

To everyone who watched the Ep: The events of this episode were directly based on a real incident that happened on a Japanese reality show with a young star named Hana Kimura. Please be respectful if you choose to discuss this topic and please seek out help if you are struggling with related issues.

The only anime I can think of that has come generally close to what this episode depicted would probably be Wonder Egg Priority, but even then Oshi no Ko really just takes it to another level of hammering the point down. The show is obviously entertaining in other respects, but a lot of characters in the show all have to deal with their own mental issues and it's my favorite manga because of the fact that it won't shy away from diving into the extremes these things can reach. Cool that this episode aired in Mental Health Awareness month as well.

More than episode 1, this is the arc I was waiting to see adapted and they did it justice. The fact that this episode and the next are airing almost exactly 3 years later gives me chills.

Still watching through but slight clarrification. The profit split mentions at the beginning 80-20. She meant that her agency takes 80, not herself lol. That's why she was surprised at the 50-50 split as if it is really good.

This episode was soo good in how realistic it depicted online bullying, never feel like pausing and speaking about this stuff is a bad thing, content creators should be able to give there thoughts and opinions on what they are watching and personally I enjoy watching reactors that do that more

Yeh, unfortunately, this is based on a true story and it hurts to know that ppl on social media cyberbully and send death threats on a daily basis to entertainers that are just trying their best to entertain.

Dolfy

Awesome reaction. Personally appreciated your side commentary. Not just because of the subject matter in this episode but nice to see when this medium can strike a chord with people.

Holy shit

RamsessZ

Aqua a fucking g the entire last half of the episode I was freaking the fuck out over the fact that nobody was reaching out

Jake

Worst part is that the thing she got attacked over was literally scripted.

RamsessZ

Please protect this girl

GraffitiTurtle

I mean, they kinda were. The mother expressed concern and the group chat showed the other actors also expressing concern. Akane didn’t talk about how she was feeling, we saw her flat out deny anything was wrong when asked. That was probably out of of feelings of guilt and shame, which is usually what drives people to feel hopeless enough to attempt suicide.

GraffitiTurtle

You know the writer is talented when they can make you care so much about a character after just one episode of focus. Then again, he also made Love is War, so it’s not surprising that he’s good lol

RamsessZ

Yeah it’s true that it’s hard for them to know how much she is suffering, unless they were aware of the internet backlash and was dismissive of it

Markistador

This is what people were talking about when saying it wasn't just a revenge anime. Glad you are liking it

Markistador

also don't worry about the side tangents and such, most if not all of us have already seen these eps and are here for your thoughts! if anything I would've said before that I'd love to hear more of your thoughts during these reactions

I was also curious about whether these kinds of shows actually exist in Japan (teenager reality dating shows), so I searched around a couple of weeks ago. Turns out there are heaps of them and when I watched the first episode of one it was very similar to the show in the anime (I think the logo was literally the same design lmao). The show I found wasn't with young celebrities, but I wouldn't be surprised if those also exist.

It has been a pleasure to see your reaction to this show. Love your added insights!

Yeah, go off on your tangents. I'm pretty sure most everyone is watching with you after seeing it themselves so they can see how you enjoyed or saw the episode. I know some will watch first time with reactors but I like my first blind take and then getting to relive it while watching someone react. It was already mentioned that this was inspired by a real event but sadly there was no Aqua to save her from her tragic fate. One thing I really appreciated about this that I didn't see anyone else mention was after the ED HiDive put in a Suicide Hotline and awareness message. It'll be missed by a lot of people and they obviously couldn't have that at the start of the episode as it would color your ideas of the episode. But it is still a really nice touch.

Kevin Barz

so sadly, this episode is based of real events where there was no one to save the person...

I'm a bit late to the party on this one but in my opinion the pausing and tangents are great. I like watching people react to shows because their personal experience with the show and input allows me to re-experience something I enjoy in a new way I would've never gotten by just watching it myself. It's the reason I subscribed to your YouTube because you do exactly that with music I enjoy by showing me things in a song I wouldn't have noticed or been able to enjoy. Its something you can't get from a more passive reaction.
