you definitely have to remember what the future devil said and what happened in the end with "don't open the door", it will both be very important in the future

There hasn't been any announcement about season 2 yet. Mappa is currently animating a lot of shows so they probably have to clear those first. Also, from my understanding on the whole ghost vs Aki scene was since Himeno used to own one of the ghost hand, she probably gave that cigarette to it so that it can pass it to Aki and also Aki explained that the ghost doesn't have eyes so they only way that it see people is through their fears. So I guess when Aki was chocked and had a flashback about Himeno, he managed to not feel any fear anymore and that's why the ghost can't see Aki.

Season 2 is not yet released yet.

No season 2 confirmation yet but it will most likely happen. They are working on a lot of shows right now and this series is sort of a passion project for them so i don't expect it to be rushed out any time soon.

Yo! I’ll clear some things up for you man. 1)That big white thing is the ghost devil who Himeno had a contract with. Why it stopped choking Aki was because he stopped fearing it after remembering what Himeno said. Why it gave Aki the cigarette was maybe because it was fond of Himenos resolve of her giving up her entire body to save Aki. 2) That last part with the city mouse and the country mouse is a reference to an old fable that I won’t explain here. Without spoiling too much about who said it she’s a VERY core character to the next arc of the show

noahh

im not 100% sure why the ghost devil just stopped attacking like that, but my own theory was that aki lost consciousness for a moment from being choked out, and if youre knocked out, you cant feel fear. himenos influence was definitely also involved in all of that but im not sure in exactly what way(s)

1) Ending with a door is the same dream we saw at the very beginning of the show in first episode. As Danji said - he always see that dream and always forget it. 2) Ending with a girl - it's just a teaser for manga readers =) No sense to explain more here as it would be simply a spoiler. But yea, we are pretty excited about her appearance.

It has a lot of references, especially deeply rooted in Japanse culture. The vengeful spirit, the unfinished business etc. She became a part of something that represents those things. "Easy Revenge" also points towards that. Also, "it cannot see you if you do not fear it" is a reference to only people who are scared of the ghosts believe in them (thus making them real). If you don't fear them, it's as if they do not exist. Those are (probably) the inspirations the author took from. It's also all of course - not confirmed in the story, which is Fujimoto's usual MO when it comes to writing. Things are left to your interpretation.

Just know that there are of course tons of anime out there and while some are completed or at least regularly getting new episodes, there are plenty that are either waiting months or years for the next season, and others that are either officially or unofficially cancelled and will likely never get more episodes. Sometimes shows just get one season and it's like an advertisement for the manga because they'll keep releasing manga chapters but 12 episodes of anime is all you'll ever get. CSM was so successful that it will almost surely get another season, but due to how long the first season was in production it will likely be a while.

S2 not confirmed but there is no way they are letting go of this cash cow.

MAYBE

Poor Mappa animators are gonna have an IV drip of pure caffeine with all the anime's they are producing lmao. aint no way they aint doing a S2 of CSM though.

Yeah so when aki had that flashback when the ghost devil (himeno’s former devil) was choking him out he remembered what Himeno said to him (as he explained in his dialogue) at that point he didn’t fear it anymore and the scene played out as it did. On the note of the last scene. It’s really just a MASSIVE tease for season 2 for the manga readers. Like I’ve read the whole manga and know where this story goes and that last scene HIT DIFFERENT I literally screamed when I saw her. Ain’t nobody gonna spoil her for you cause it’s gonna be so worth it when they come out with season 2. As the other person said she plays a vital role in the next arc of the story and is beloved by the chainsaw man community.

The for the ghost devil choking him out and then stopping, it’s up for interpretation but we can assume it’s either the ghost devil remembering its relationship with Himeno and handing him the cigarette as a form of respect for its former contractor, or it’s the remnants of Himeno’s will and love for Aki pushing from beyond the grave to have her devil perform a final task (consider she gave up her entire life to summon its entire body). Either way I find itbeautiful.

The dream sequence with the door is just a dream that current Denji often has and always forgets when he wakes up. This scene also mirrors the very first scene in ep 1. In the dream, Pochita is behind the door and ominously tells Denji "Don't ever open this door" (your version is a slight mistranslation), implying that something is behind it. Then the dream ends. That is all we know at this point in the anime. The very last part with the new girl is just a teaser for season 2.

I loved how when Sawatari saves the katana man from the ghost she says "snake swallow it whole", and when she sees aki again she says "snake spit it out". Really op power if it means you can basically capture a devil like a pokeball lol
