there's is still one movie (1h long) before season 3 called "ensemble contest" that is recommended to watch before s3 if you haven't planned on doing so the full name is "Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest Arc" movies 1 and 2 are recap like you said, so they aren't a must watch unlike ensemble contest

Loayza

Like Eyal said, Ensemble Contest arc is a must watch before season 3

Yep, Ensemble Contest is needed as a bridge, and doesn't really have any recap material or anything

Yeah, it's so nice to see all of the ex-first years grow into leaders. Kumiko especially has the steel, although it's covered with velvet Nice that we got to see the ex-third years show up! And it's a shame that the ex-second years weren't able to lead the band to victory, although it was in dire need of rebuilding after the previous years of disruption. But they did what they could to leave it in a better position than they inherited it. On to next year!

I recently visited Kyoto and this show is extremely popular there. Once you exit the main train station you see giant promotion posters about S3 .

Also visited the city that the show is supposedly taking place in. It is called Uji and is known for matcha (japanese green tea). A lot of the places in the show can be visited IRL, including Kumiko's bench (there were 10 people taking photos of that bench when I visited lol)

It's interesting seeing Kanade's approach in the "I want to be liked by everyone" thing. Usually when I see this type of character archetype it's usually someone faking being really nice, but Kanade seemed to play the field to the side and then when she saw a chance to get someone to open up to her she'd get really pushy and try to force it out. I feel like her chaotic nature could just blend into her actual personality now, like a class clown type of thing

Highly recommend watching the Ensemble movie which gets the story running between this movie and the start of the 3rd season.

The Ensemble movie covers the events of the rest of their school year. The Japanese school year starts in April and ends in late March. Right now with the ending of this movie you are around summer time on the timeline. S3 events starts with the 3rd school year in April. So if you start S3 without seeing it you will have missed like half a year.

I'm glad someone else called out the use of Bolero at SunFes. The whole appeal of that piece is how it changes throughout! Even if it was appropriate for a marching ensemble, what's the point if the audience can't hear the whole thing?

I'll also echo the calls for you to watch the ensemble contest movie before starting S3. I can provide you with an MKV file of the movie that has some minor subtitle edits by myself if you'd like it, since it's not available officially outside of Japan.

I personally like your nitpicks on how the concert band is portrayed. It's the reason I watch these reactions in the first place.

Recap movie 1 didnt really have extended scenes, except for Sunrise Festival https://youtu.be/Loc19ZmSbl4?si=pANu20RScBxbi8Nw Recap movie 2 had a lot of original scenes focusing on Asuka and Kumiko, plus the performances https://youtu.be/r60IXPDNdJ0?si=xa26zYmZapBE4JoQ
