Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night is pretty music oriented. It is about different types of artists coming together to form a group. There is also Girls Band Cry. Though this one is animated entirely using 3D CG so it might be a bit jarring to watch. Both are new anime this season.

I second JD with Beck, and others that have music as part of them, but not directly a music anime, would be Takt Op. (Which was made as a tie-in to a mobile game, but I truly thought the story was good), and FLCL which is god tier and has a great OST.

If you are interested in anime featuring Japanese instruments, I really enjoyed Those Snow White Notes, which features the shamisen, and Kono Oto Tomare!, which features the koto.

I thought I should mention that the situation in the plot of Those Snow White Notes is kind of weird in the beginning, but it becomes a normal school club type of thing after a couple of episodes. I can go into more detail if needed.

Nodame Cantabile is a good show! College music majors at a music conservatory, orchestra focused, but some other students too - piano, vocal, etc. You actually see private lessons. Follows them past graduation and while looking for careers as professional musicians/conductors. Very funny show, too.
