Since you mentioned AoT, did you note any difference in the score and how it was used in s4 from the previous ones? Since the lead composer and director changed, it's interesting to see two different composers and creatives' interpretation of the same story.

You are correct, the opening does not play until this episode. I assume because it reveals her dress and, more importantly, the emerald broach. This is also a reminder that after episode 4, you should watch the one episode OVA as it bridges the time better. (It opens with an Opera to confirm you're watching the right thing)

I think another factor for the OP timing is that the first 3 episodes were debuted together at AnimeExpo and their pacing is kind of them as a single episode
