A former Patron going by "Igor", who legit supported me for several months just randomly deleted pledge, account and contact email, not without doing a LIFETIME chargeback on all his pledges. This means, now I "owe" Patreon the entire donation money I received from this asshole, since day 1. My balance is negative and will likely won't turn positive next month. (Chargebacks are not possible btw, so this guy was committing fraud and hacks.)
I'll have to pause some of my own pledges, and likely open my waiting list, because I can't afford to pay this BS.
Patreon itself won't help because this person deleted every from of contact and I had no idea he was committing fraud.
From today on, I'm activating the "pay upfront feature" which was enabled globally recently, which will charge NEW patrons upfront and by doing so preventing scamsters, samplers and bots.
I didn't want to activate it since I haven't had to deal with something as nasty as a fraudulent patron, but now I have no choice. I may have to open commissions on September to compensate for this. I will keep you guys updated.
Thanks everyone for your support once again. bows
Notes: "Pay upfront" feature only affects new patrons. Current patrons have nothing to worry about.
