Yay! These are great news.
Our feedback and ranting got through Patreon management and the planned 2.9% charge to patrons will NOT happen.
I'm happy they realised this was a really dumb move. I mean sure, you will get creators more income, but why charge patrons for that? I mean it's like saying "you have to pay extra if you want to support creators."
They say they didn't think about the additives of small pledges, but quite honestly I don't believe them. I do praise their prompt reply and cancellation of this silly measure tho.

So everything back to normal, is it safe to be a patron?
It is. You won't be charged any additional fees no matter how many Creators you pledge to. if you support 20 creators with $1 each, you will only be charged those $20, nothing more.

Won't this affect you as a creator?
Not much. As a creator I have to pay a small fee to Patreon which ranges from 7 to 10% of my total earnings each month. But this is to be expected. Patreon is not a charity, it's a service.
I like Patreon, I think it's a great platform and a really helpful outlet for creators and supporters alike, so let's hope it stays like this for the near and far future.
