Against maybe my better judgment, I decided to attempt Inktober again next month!

Last year it was fairly easy to participate since it was the first October in I don't even know how long that I didn't have any deadlines looming. This year, I'm neck deep in graphic novel layouts (due Nov) as well as a potential freelance gig on the horizon.

But it was SO FUN last time, I would have been bummed if I didn't give it a go. I just need them to be as less time consuming as possible. I landed on these tiny versions of Babs and Kara that I've been toying around with all year. I'm also going to pencil them digitally (since I'm faster that way) and ink over that. It's something I started experimenting with and maybe I'll get better at it after 31 drawings. Each day will be a simple vignette with no (or minimal) background and I'm also going to add a splash of color to all of them because why not?

So, maybe not quite as epic as last time, but still kinda fun? Right? I hope...

I'll be using the official Inktober prompts again. I thought about trying something different like Chris Samnee's Batober prompts, but I love how simple and unrelating the official ones are. Plus I get to support my pal Jake a bit.

This is also going to be one of those rare, and maybe only, circumstances where I'll need to post simultaneously on social media. Please let me know if you're not okay with that. I'll still be posting here first (and considering cheating and drawing these a day ahead?) but if you want to follow along on the socials, I'll be using the hashtag #SuperBatober. This will be the only place to see the digital pencils and any bonus stuff though. And of course, I'll do my best not to just post inktobers all month. :)

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I love the idea of Inktober, but the name is owned and copyrighted and the owner will sue and steal work under its name. I'd recommend trying one of the other month long art motivation drives.

Totally appreciate your concern! I've known Jake personally for years tho and he would never sue anyone unconditionally. He explained his reasons for the copyright a couple years ago and I completely stand by his decision. Using the official prompts is a small way I can show that. :) https://www.mrjakeparker.com/blog/2019/12/20/inktober
