Lokis Time-lapse (Patreon)

Forgot to post the time-lapse of that Loki fan art from last week! If there was ever a look into my creative process here it is--haha. So here's a bit of commentary to go along with it:
I sorta noodled away at this piece (mostly) every night last week if I was able to get done with my page quota for my current graphic novel layouts (which is three-a-day). Kind of like a little reward (if a reward means just more drawing). I didn't have much of an idea for this piece beyond TVA Loki crushing a bit on a grumpy Sylvie so there's a lot of indecisiveness going on above.
I really wanted to draw Alligator Loki and if I was gonna do that I figured I should draw a bunch of the other variants too. It was a bit tough figuring out what to do with all of them to make sure they enhanced and didn't interfere with my initial idea.
Sylvie came out the easiest since I had the clearest conception of what I wanted to do with her. Kid Loki and Vote Loki came out pretty quick as well. But, boy--definitely struggled with what to do with Boastful Loki. Couldn't make up my mind which side he should stand on and eventually just had him showing off his giant muscle arms. It's passable.
Classic Loki was a lot of fun, although again, couldn't decide what to do with him either. I kept going back to this idea of him falling asleep but with him being at the top of the image it made everything overall feel kind of drab. Then I had him eating some popcorn. That was okay. Once I concluded on him casting a magical rainbow over everyone it really started to come together.
Back to that alligator Loki... Next to constantly going back to fix TVA Loki's face, that was the most difficult thing to draw. I think I struggled on that cartoony/realism balance. Happy with how he turned out though. I like him simply lazily hanging there (alligators are so lazy).
Miss Minutes was the easiest. I needed something to balance Alligator Loki but also I just really wanted to draw her.
The most difficult thing when it came to color was simply making sure all those various green tones didn't all blend together. kept playing with highlighting a bit of the linework, but it always looked to distracting so opted not to.
And......I think that's it! Any questions of course, ask below. :)
