Hey everyone,

We've decided to not only run a part 2 to our old RAM timings series, but just straight-up overhaul the first part altogether. Andrew has done some crazy work. He basically built RAM inside of Unreal Engine, to the extent that we can accurately calculate timings in ways that represent reality. It's not hard-baked animations, but accurately programmed ones. The stuff is crazy. He and Patrick Stone walk you through the plans for the series in this piece. We still have a few more weeks of work at least (not nonstop - it's between all the other stuff), so it'll be a while yet, but we wanted to give you an early look!

That's excellent! Hope that with this setup you'll be able to show what happens when values are set too extreme and starts failing its timings, e.g. refresh is set too long, the cells turn red once they deplete and hence the data comes out corrupted etc.

Much love for the hard work

This sounds so freakin' cool!

This is some of the best PC coverage I have seen. Really enjoy learning about these technical details and looking forward to more. Nice work, and the animations… excellent.

All those nodes make my head spin.

This sounds great!

Wonder with the amount of detail put into the animations how much more would be required to actually make a memory 'modeling' app so one could run through scenarios themselves to see impact.
