This month at Wicked Grounds...

...not a lot is going on, to be completely honest. You see, it’s almost Event Season. Almost the season of festivals, summertime events, and an increased concentration of nudity in the City. Almost, but not quite, so May is devoted, among other things, to bugging our amazing artisans about making us even more stock for Pride, Up Your Alley, and the Folsom St. Fair, ordering hella books and tracking down new titles that we’d like to carry (do let us know in the comments if you know of any tantalizing books coming out!), and continuing to chip away at setting up physical reward tier fulfillment for y’all. And this year especially, preparing our newer hires for the intricacies of making 60+ milkshakes for Transfabulous, managing the sandwich production line on Folsom day, and staying properly hydrated and sunscreened during a Pride vending shift.

We're also playing around with Lens, a new way of connecting from Patreon that draws heavy inspiration from the "temporary photos/messages" story features on Instagram and Facebook. Johnny has been serving little slices of Wicked Grounds through lens, and will be using it to give you a behind-the-scenes look at our forthcoming video content.

The above being said, there are a few special events this month that we’d like to highlight!

Sunday, May 20th, we will be tabling at AtmosQueer, a free queer/LGBT+ networking event to help connect folks to Bay Area “volunteer activities, athletics, health, lifestyle, arts and culture.” As you can see from their Facebook page (linked above), a ton of interesting organizations will be there (and Hot Cookie, Castro’s cheeky baked goods shop, will be supplying cookies)! Please consider checking them out.

Thursday, May 31st, the folks behind the Butch Lesbians Coloring Book Series will be hosting a free coloring event at Wicked Grounds, as both a release event for the second coloring book in their series, Butch Lesbians of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and as a way to raise awareness about queer history. So much of the history about queer folks and queer communities is lost, or “straight-washed,” and projects like this strive to kindle interest and inspiration, passing down and preserving what is known. (By the way, one of our patrons has illustrations in both of the coloring books!) We will be carrying these coloring book at the cafe and online soon.

And of course, we have the usual line up of events, from erotic hypnotism meetups to sex magick discussion groups, all available on our online calendar.

We are finally getting back into the swing of things, even though the last few months have been an interesting process. Thank you all so much for continuing to support us, and the work that we do in the space that is Wicked Grounds. <3
