First I must apologize to patreons for not responding quickly to requests recently-I had a nasty dose of winter flu virus in the last week. I am now mostly recovered and should be able to make up the lost time before the end of the month by working through the weekends. I greatly appreciate your patience. I am very thankful to patreons for making a number of contributions to help me get back up to speed.

Intro

This article is about a phenomena that covers a range of exploits that have come to prominence in 9.1.5. These exploits all have the characteristic of extending stat buffs to the character outside of their intended and/or beyond their current duration.

This article will have most value to theory-crafters: each exploit mentioned here contains a unique method to test against any new buff you might find in wow, including ones that will be introduced in future patches. Every time you find a new buff in wow you can use the basic methods applied in this article to see if you can create a new exploit.

If you don't like theory-crafting you can of course just them use for the buffs described below, for those that are noted to be active, until they are fixed.

Permanent Mastery Bug

The great Lord Slaain sent me the following information:

Found these 2 posts, I imagine combining these two would be interesting

1. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/demonology-warlock-shard-of-annihilation-legendary-shadowbolt-bug/1133830

2. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/permanent-mastery-bug/1131866

(direct link to video explainer)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykrXu2dKdns&t=291s&ab_channel=CigNus )

The first article lists a very powerful covenant/legendary/spec build method for warlocks to glitch an interaction with their shadowbolts, increasing their damage indefinitely.  Very powerful method but limited to a single spec (Demonology).

The second method is of much more general application and has apparently been active on the twink underground for some time.

The 2nd method works like this:

1: Activate any mastery trinket.

2. Log-out.

3. Cancel Buff.

The mastery buff will continue to affect your damage output....whilst not being visible.

This is a fun thing for twinks to use in lower-level pvp brackets but is impractical at max level.

What especially excites and interests me about this method is that there is clearly an exploitable interaction between the state of logging-out and buffs, that is unlikely to be "just" to do with mastery trinkets.

Korrak's Revenge/Mythic Dungeon Ilvl Exploit

Patreon Rusty sent the following:

Huge twink exploit atm.  If you enter Korak’s AV on. 20, you can accept a lock summon directly into a BFA Mythic 0.  Once inside, your 20 can loot ilvl 85 epics!

This one will likely not last very long:)

Update to Glitchable Kyrian Water Buff Article

Ten days ago I submitted the following article

https://www.patreon.com/posts/58334273

Patreon Ryan Moore contributed the following valuable insight in a comment which I thought deserved a section in this article:

I experimented around with this and found a way to get the hidden buff stuck on my toon. There are two buffs at play here, a hidden one, and the one you see on your screen. The hidden buff is given when you enter the water and applies the visible buff every 3 seconds https://www.wowhead.com/spell=317104/soul-infusion. If you stand in the water, log out, and then use the unstuck feature to teleport away. The hidden buff gets stuck on your character. The buff keeps trying to give you the visual one but it gets removed on the same frame.  The hidden buff will keep tick on you causing the flicker until you go back to bastion. While flying in you will start getting the visual buff. When putting the buff on my water elemental, I noticed the same thing was happening. It might be possible to take other buffs outside of their attended area with unstuck, and since unstuck is an 8 hour cooldown, being able to test it with a pet first can save a lot of time.

(Fixed BUT SEE METHOD) Glitching Azerite Power To Work In Shadowlands

This is a very rare example of a method that was fixed before I could publish but I have decided to publish it anyway, because it is very likely when tested on other things it will glitch something out. Despite being an innovation, this is a classic "timing attack"-you can see exactly how it mangles Blizzard's code.

This is something I am literally trying with every new strange buff or effect I can find:

So what you do is make sure your hearthstone is set to somewhere in Shadowlands (like your sanctum) Then just go to any dungeon that isn't on Shadowlands set on heroic. At the daily reset you will be dragged into the shadowlands but it seems to bug out with the passive of heart of Azeroth.
So when you get back you can actually even take off your heart and still retrain the passive. I have only tried it with Visions of perfection as i play warlock and profit from it most.
There is one thing though when you do get back into SL the heart is inactive so if you do tend to try it out just keep in mind the passive is actually active even though there is no way of finding out how except of attacking an target dummy.
There are a few thing that seem to get rid of the "buff" and it's going into and sort of automated LFG such as dungeons and raids, it does also get disabled when going into Torghast but i haven't tried the scenario's in Pandaria.
If WoW devs would discover this bug it's going to most likely be a bannable one as it can be used in M+ and Raids.

(sadly despite my and Melvin's efforts we were not able to consistently reproduce the bug in its original form). Variations on the original concept may still be viable.

"Korrak's Revenge/Mythic Dungeon Ilvl Exploit " Can the twink be other levels? Or do we have to be level 20?

Bigun

Thanks.

What specs would scale the best? Aff lock? Fury war?

tried this on my main sub rogue at max lvl with the trinket i for get what its called but it gives you a random buff depending on your hp but at max hp it has the chance to give like 600-700 verz or mastery since rogues mastery effects there bleeds/poisions and there finishing moves i was hopeing to see evesicrates hiting for crazy numbers but honestly didnt really even think it worked but i havent been able to try it on other toons since that is the only trinket that gives mastery when used

Too bad dark moon last deck of nameless xobeh buff doesnt work :p

I tested around with the mastery trinket one on my arcane mage a bit, since your actual mastery is easy to see ( it changes your maximum mana). -It seems to work with any mastery buff even bufffood. -The big challange is to keep the buff in combat tho, because it disappears everytime your Mastery stat changes. -The other stats dont matter. -If you're using a trinket to activate the Buff you can unequip it after. -It survives an openworld death (idk about raid) -You can change Soulbinds If you can manage to never change your mastery in a fight with allies this can be helpful but this is not easy. Even an Groupmember with the Better Together soulbind walking by can "refresh" your Mastery to it actual level. And it locks you out of certain Soulbind trees like Pelegos or Niya. The limiting factor will also be how many mastery buffs you can manage to get at the same time, since trinket cds limit you. The most I could think of was Divine Instructors Bell+Bufffood+Pelegos Soulbind.
