This one is really useful since almost everybody who plays wow has some kind of apparently useless currency that can be monetized relatively easily using this method.

I have about 2000 marks of honor that are not terribly useful that I've been trying to turn into gold. You can buy weapons and armor with marks of honor and sell them to a vendor. The best one seems to be the warmongering gladiator's drape of prowess:

which can be vendored for over 36 gold for one mark.

The problem with this approach is that there is a buyback window of 2 hours. And that is 2 hours in-game-the timer stops when you log-off. This makes the approach impractical as you have to continuously clog up your bags for relatively little gold.

There are methods to eliminate the buyback window such as using cheap enchants on the gear but they are quite time-consuming and impractical.

The following approach I have found to be the best solution: delete all the items you buy until you have used up as many marks as you want, then use item restoration. Note that you can only do this once every 15 days. When the items are returned to you the buyback window has gone.

Note that this approach works with every currency that can buy any kind of gear-eg nethershards, veiled argunite, timewarped badges etc. In some cases disenchanting may be preferable if that is possible for your characters-eg the gear prismatic manapearls buys should be sent to an enchanter for turning into veiled crystals which sell for 150 gold + on the auction house.
