Recently a notorious youtuber made a video about a farming technique involving using a brewmaster monk to kill stone lions on the Golden Stair in the Vale Of Eternal Blossoms in Pandaria, using a strategically placed ox statue.

"Possibly1980" contributed this important observation:

I found that you don't need to be in a group to get like 20 to spawn at once, all you have to do is go to the bottom of the path and kill all the quillen lined up down there, then you can catch all of the new ones on the way back up the path and you will get 20 or so to spawn at the gate constantly.

I tested this-it is a much better technique. You get around 20-30% more loot. You do not get 100% more loot because while there are more lions, they do take longer to travel to your monk statue. Using Possibly1980's improved method this is the best known raw gold farm in-world, and it is competitive with the very best dungeons.

Strangely, at least on the realms I tested, there are multiple lions stuck in the ground. You have to be right on top of the lions to kill them, otherwise they evade. This faulty pathing suggests the farm is at least partially the product of a glitch, which may explain why it is superior to other legacy farms.

EDIT: 02/03/2020 drops have now been nerfed. This remains an excellent ghost iron/trillium farm however as the lions can still be mined.
