On the official bug report forum is a complaint from a player who had encountered an alliance player with an NPC that had attacked them.

This is rather unusual-traditionally quest NPC's were confused by or ignored opposite faction players but this one seems to be different, probably because the npc question belongs to the player's faction.

The report, here: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20768886934

names Halford Wyrmbane as the NPC in question.

It is surprisingly easy to get on the relevant quest if you haven't done it already. Just start the relevant warfront campaign for Vol'Dun (if you are leveling up this occurs only after you have completed the 100 warfront resources quest, which can be done by opening chests or completing quest chains). Once in Vol'Dun complete the intro quests until you receive "Comb The Desert" which gives you Wyrmbane as a bodyguard.

The report describes Wyrmbane as having "extremely high health". In my case my mage has 125K health and Wyrmbane 210K, so at least for me it seems to be just "high health", rather than raid boss tank hp level as implied by the report.

Wyrmbane does relatively low damage, taking 15-20 seconds to kill a quest mob.

I tried to take Wyrmbane into Nazmir but he despawns when leaving the zone. He seems to respawn on re-log or death within Vol'Dun. He will always appear in Vol'Dun as long as you have the quest active.

All things being equal having Wyrmbane with you should make any 1 vs 1 duel trivial.
