100K Gold Per Hour Invested, Soloing The Shadowmourne Questline With An Exploit (Patreon)

The Shadowmourne questline was Wrath Of The Lich King's epic questline. Completing the questline awards the player a number of exclusive, extremely valuable vanity items that can be sold on the auction house for around 420,000 gold currently. 

The quest can only be completed by Death Knights, Warriors and Paladins.

The main bar to completing the Shadowmourne questline, which is what makes the items so valuable, is the "Blood Infusion" part of the questline. 

From the quest text:

Highlord Darion Mograine wants you to infuse Shadow's Edge with blood and defeat Queen Lana'thel.

This quest may only be completed in 25 person difficulty of Icecrown Citadel.   

Infuse Shadow's Edge with Blood then defeat Lana'thel. 

The quest requires the player to be turned into a vampire three times by the boss Queen Lana'thel, and bite three players repeatedly.

Nine months ago I was contacted by an individual who claimed to have soloed the blood infusion part of the questline. He couldn't remember exactly what he'd done as he was remembering back several years but it was clear he'd used a variant of what I call Method Zero. I published his comments on here but they attracted little interest probably because of the vagueness of his suggestions. 

However, the fact that it was clearly possible to solo blood infusion meant it was worth investigating.

Recently I attempted to solo the questline myself and was surprised to find that:

1) The whole questline takes only about 4 hours in time invested. Note that it takes 6 weeks to complete the quest but this is mostly just due to instance lockout, you actually need to do very little for a very high rate of return. 

2) The blood infusion quest was surprisingly easy to clear. By "easy" I mean it took me many hours to get it right, but once I had a method it was clear it could be reproduced easily.

3) The value of the items you receive at the end of the quest have gone up significantly in value making this one of if not the fastest way to make gold in the whole game.

Here's what I did to solo blood infusion:

1. I completed all the quests up to blood infusion on my warrior.

2. I took FOUR of my characters to the entrance of ICC. I formed a group using custom group finder and had each join the group. 

3. To progress to the blood infusion stage of the questline you will have already completed most of the bosses up to blood queen lana'thel, with the exception of blood prince council, which you'll need to kill now, preferably with the player on the quest.

4. Now take all the four characters from the entrance up to the Lana'thel's area. Note that you are allowed to leave a character inactive for five minutes before they are returned to the start of the dungeon. 

Logging-out of a character takes 20 seconds. We don't have time for that. Open two clients. When one character has reached Lana'thel, log-in on the client you are not using - DO NOT log out on the client you are using. 

You'll see that when you log-in on the new client that the character you were using is logged out automatically-however they are still visible in-game from the perspective of the character you've just logged-in on.

5. When all characters have reached Lana'thel, log-in on each of them again using the above method. We need to do this to prevent any character being returned to the start of the dungeon for inactivity. 

6. Engage Lana'thel with the character on the questline.  Log-in on your second client with one of your other characters. Now log-in on your character doing the questline again and wait till you become a vampire. Your non-questing character should be visible in-game and can be bitten.

7. Bite your other two characters using the same method as in 6.

8. Now kill Lana'thel. 

Congratulations! You are now one of only a handful of players out of millions who have soloed "Blood Infusion".

Note that there is no in-game notification until you actually kill Lana'thel about the quest. 

All that remains now is to complete the epic questline. It takes 6 weeks to kill enough bosses to get the shadowfrost shards necessary for completion - however it should be emphasized in terms of time invested it takes very little - a 15 minute run of 25-man ICC every week. 

Note for returning players: Valithria Dreamwalker can be soloed easily nowadays by purchasing the pump action bandage gun from the auction house (cheap).  The extra chance at a shard will knock a week off completion time. 

Overall, in terms of time invested, the whole thing should take you about 4 hours. The items you receive at the end have an ah average value of 420K gold. 

420K/4 hours is 105K an hour, an extremely good rate of return. I have not factored in all the items you will receive from boss drops/trash etc, which will add at least another 20K or so.
