I posted a detailed response to the Proving Grounds nerf here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/14460341/. That post dealt with some advanced methods for working around the removal of that method, and addressed how to reset cooldowns using similar techniques.

This post details methods appropriate for gold/mount/instance farming legacy content where cooldowns reset are relatively unimportant and the player just wants to get back to the start of the dungeon quickly.

The primary method not in the public domain I have not already mentioned is the "Pinchwhistle Nitro Fuel" (http://www.wowhead.com/item=120959/pinchwhistle-nitro-fuel) method. This is available from a number of vendors but I used the ones in the respective factions Inn's on Ashran.

You will also need a cooking fire: this can be acquired from any cooking trainer and learning the skill. You do not need to develop your cooking skill any further than that, the cooking fire is given to you simply for attaining the skill.

When you have completed a dungeon and wish to return to the entrance quickly, simply put down the cooking and drink two doses of Pinchwhistle Nitro Fuel. This will kill you and send your character back to the start of the dungeon instantly. You may wish to save sets of "naked" and "full armour" for your character so you can avoid damage to your gear. (Note a few old instances such as Stratholme still use the vanilla method of porting you to a graveyard, however these are generally very near the instance entrance).

As I suggested in my levelling video on youtube some time ago now, another way is to simply delete your hearthstone and use help-unstuck. Most people found this a satisfactory method-however if you like to find exploits yourself and travel a lot through Azeroth and beyond, the loss of a hearthstone is a big deal in terms of increased travelling time, so I tend to prefer the Nitro Fuel method.

Druid, Death Knights and Monks all have no need of any special method, they can simply teleport back to their order halls using their relevant spell and then use a return spell to port to the start of the instance.
