In the quiet hospital room, the soft swaying motion of Gage as he held Gaia in his arms was interrupted by a presence at the door. His eyes shifted to the figure standing in the doorway, and the moment his eyes met Eva's, he paused mid-sway. His body tensed slightly. He looked as if he had been discovered in an act not meant to be seen.

He was about to avert his gaze, but something about her stopped him. It was in her eyes—those deep, expressive blue eyes gleamed with an intensity of emotion he hadn't often seen. On her face was the gentlest of smiles, one that softened her features and reached deep into his heart. That look in her eyes as if she was watching a dream come true... It was unlike any he had remembered.

Before he could react, Eva stepped forward, and without a word, she wrapped her arms around him from behind. The warmth of her body made him momentarily close his eyes.

"Thank you…" she whispered, and he could feel her hands trembling slightly. "Thank you for bringing our baby back." Her words broke slightly.

In that moment, time seemed to slow down for Gage. He stood motionless, just feeling Eva's warmth, her arms so tight around him.

As Eva's arms eventually relaxed her hold, Gage turned his attention back to the child in his arms. He approached the bed, his movements deliberate and cautious. As if the act of laying her down had to be performed with precision and care to maintain the tranquility of her sleep.

But as he began to lower her onto the bed, the child stirred. Her small hands reached out, gripping onto Gage's shirt. Reacting instinctively, Gage drew her back into his embrace. His hand gently rubbed her back, soothing her back to sleep again.

Gage’s eyes lifted to meet Eva’s once again. She was smiling, a soft, radiant expression that seemed to illuminate the room. Her eyes held a dreamlike quality that made it hard for him to look away.

In the end, Gage could only settle on the child’s bed. And as he was cradling her in his arms, the doctor entered the room. The little girl, clinging to Gage with a determined grip, made it impossible for him to stand and hand her over, so the doctor adeptly proceeded with the check-up right there, with Gage serving as an impromptu chair.

Soon, the doctor exchanged a nod and a smile with Eva. “She can be discharged now, Mrs. Acheron,” he announced.

Eva and the doctor then stepped outside the room for a brief discussion, leaving Gage alone with the child. When Eva returned, her face was filled with utter relief, the stress that had marred her features was now smoothed away by the doctor’s assurance.

Before long, they were ready to leave the hospital. Gage, still in the hospital clothes he had changed into earlier, carried Gaia in his arms as they made their way to the car.

Once they were all settled inside the car, Gage glanced at Eva, as if wanting to say something, but he held back. It was obvious that the only thing stopping him from speaking was that he feared making any noise that would disturb Gaia's sleep.

Observing him from the corner of her eye, Eva couldn't help but smile secretly to herself. The sight of Gage right now was just so endearing!

...

By the time their car rolled to a stop at the gates of the mansion, the sight that greeted them was one of heightened security. The grounds, normally quiet, were now a hive of activity, with increased bodyguards stationed at strategic points.

As Eva, Gage, and the Gaia made their way toward the entrance, Hunter hurried to meet them.

However, Hunter's pace slowed, then halted entirely, as he saw Gage. The sight of Gage obviously shocked him. His eyes widened, a look of sheer disbelief crossing his features.

Gage only threw Hunter a fleeting glance before turning his attention back to Eva.

"Let’s bring her to her room," Eva whispered softly to Gage.

Once Gage nodded, Eva gave Hunter a quick, reassuring signal that they would talk later.
