He turned and stared at her. He saw the surprise in her eyes upon seeing his expression. But the surprise was immediately replaced with stubborn determination.

“You were drunk last night, so I merely rode along.” He told her coldly. “Do you really think I’m that desperate to the point of trying to play house as your missing husband? I only wanted a one-night stand and now that I got what I wanted, there’s no more reason for me to keep seeing you –”

“Liar!” she hissed at him. “If you think you can fool me... you’re wrong, Gage –”

He pinned her to the bed. His large body so imposing, and his eyes so dark and scary as hell. “Stop calling me that name and fucking. Go. Home. Your daughter is waiting for you.”

“Our. Daughter!” she bravely retorted. “She’s your daughter too, so fucking stop this nonsense and come home with me!”

A short and inaudible laugh escaped him. “It seems you’re not in your right mind, Eva. Did you go crazy because your husband left you? You must’ve loved that husband of yours to death that –”

“That’s right!!! I love him to death.” Her eyes were filled with emotion. “I loved him to death –”

“Even though he left you?” His expression turned dark. Fuck, he should only show her utter coldness and detachment now but damn it… Must she mention she loved someone else to death?!

“Yes.” Her voice was low but filled with emotion, making his jealousy blaze even harder.

But he tried hard to push back this useless emotion and succeeded. He smirked. “Then go back, Eva. Go back to your blissful life and wait for the husband you loved to death.”

He was about to pull away when she reached out and pinched both his cheeks hard.

He froze in disbelief as he looked into her angry, teary eyes. “What the hell are you doing?” he asked as his hands wrapped around her wrists.

“I should be the one asking you that, you idiot! You are that husband I loved to death, damn you!” she yelled at him. “You are Gage! You just forgot about everything. Do you understand?!”

A short silence passed as she took in labored breaths. And then a soulless smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “I never forget, Eva. Never.”

She shook her head. “Come home with me, and I’ll show you everything, Gage. Just come with me, please.”

He was faltering again. But he knew he had to say no. What she was claiming was ridiculous in the first place. There was just no way he was Gage. No way in hell, even if he was honestly wishing he indeed was.

Curiosity was also gripping him. He wanted to see whatever it was that she wanted to show him, but no… no way… It was not worth risking his only chance to save her from this another tragedy. He must leave her now. Now.

But just as he was about to let go of her, her phone vibrated. The phone was on top of the side table next to him, so he saw its screen just by glancing at it. There was no name, just an unknown number that was calling.

“Maybe this is your missing husband calling you right now,” he said sarcastically.

Once he gave the phone to her, he turned around, now finding the right time to leave without looking back.

“G-gaia?” Her voice made him pause and turn to Eva.

When he saw the horror that immediately filled her face, he couldn’t stop himself from rushing back to her. He bent so close to hear the voice coming from the phone that was held by her frozen hand.

“M-m-mommy…” they heard Gaia’s trembling voice. “Where… are you? It’s… It’s dark, mommy… I’m scared…”

A/n; hi guys! Thank you so much for waiting! I’m actually on a vacation right now, because I wont be taking any vacation or holiday this december and the coming months because I am set to focus on writing more chapters. And I am finally in one of the places I’ve been dreaming to visit for a long time and I will be here for a week more. I didn’t make an announcement becasue I thought I can manage to write but it turned out it’s easier said than done XD

Exploring many places each day left me exhausted to write anything so I decided to skip a one day escapade to write these chaps because I can’t make you guys waiting for too long without any notice. So if you see any errors, I’m sorry in advance becasue I wrote these chaps in haste and didn’t have much time to re-read.
